The Twists and Turns of Life: An Unexpected Encounter that Transcends Borders

Writer: Gonzalo y Mariel TangoGonzalo y Mariel Tango

In the tapestry of life, we sometimes come across people who leave an indelible mark on our journey. As the famous saying goes, "You never know who you have in front of you and how a simple encounter can speak of an entire lifetime." This is precisely what happened with Lucía, affectionately known as "Flaca" Lucía, and Gerry.

Lucía, a charming and adventurous Cordobesa, knows exactly what she wants and pursues her dreams with determination. On the other hand, Gerry, an Irishman with a noble heart and silent wisdom, is one of those loyal types who stay by your side till the end. These two kindred souls met in the city of tango, a magical place where people from different corners of the world come together to dance and embrace in a language that transcends barriers.

Amidst an embrace with a stranger, something special happened. Through subtle nods and passionate body language, Lucía and Gerry communicated beyond words, despite her speaking Spanish and him English. That fleeting encounter left a profound impression on both, marking the beginning of a unique connection.

However, the story didn't end there. Life had another surprise in store for them. Through coincidences that don't seem so coincidental, they found each other again. Destiny brought them together on a day in 2005, in a tango class in Buenos Aires, where we had the honor of being their teachers. It was then that they marked the date of a new chapter on their calendars, aware that they were part of something special and momentous in their lives.

"La Flaca Lucía" fully immersed herself in the world of tango, becoming an authentic Milonguera. With passion and dedication, she organized the renowned Flor de Milonga at Maipú 444, located in the heart of the city. Her invitation to enjoy the music of the people attracted numerous individuals seeking to experience the magic of tango at its finest. It was in this wonderful space that we had the privileged opportunity to perform an exhibition in 2006.

Over the years, this beautiful couple has built a life together in Bray, Ireland, Gerry's homeland. From there, they have shared our culture and passion for tango with many through classes and events. The journey continues, and once again, we have the pleasure of being invited to their cultural space to share the beautiful art of dancing tango.

The story of Lucía and Gerry serves as a reminder that life is full of unexpected twists and magical encounters.

We are delighted to be invited by La Flaca Lucia and Gerry, this time to the beautiful city of Bray, Ireland.
